Important Things to Know While Selling Online

IMPORTANT EBAY FACTS:

  1. As a new seller on Ebay, do not list too many auctions the first week, as Ebay is monitoring your account.
  2. Also, as a new seller, do not sell a ton of items right off the bat. Rather, over time slowly increase your sales.
  3. If you are going to sell a lot of one type of name brand item, make sure to put a note saying, "I am an authorized reseller of this ****". Also, make sure to have premium pricing, as some of the name brand companies really dislike those who have lower prices (and then sometimes use the VeRO System to cancel their auctions).
  4. If Ebay cancels an auction for a certain item, make sure to write those who bought on that auction and very recent ones indicating that their order is good and is on its way to them. If they write back about receiving some email from Ebay saying that your auction was canceled for this particular type of item and that they should not do business with you, just write the customer and reassure them that Ebay sends this note in every case that an auction is canceled and that it was just a small technical error on the auction and had nothing to do with the quality or legality of you selling the item to them and that it is on its way to them as we speak.
  5. When sending customers their tracking numbers, make sure not to send all the customers their tracking numbers all on one email. Send the tracking number individually to each customer. Do not allow your customers access to each other's email, etc.
  6. If the customer continually asks for their tracking number, reassure them that everything is fine and that there is just a slight delay in getting the tracking number from the factory, due to it being a larger company. And tell them you will send them tracking as soon as you receive it.
  7. If the customer asks why a tracking number is not tracking, indicate to them that some tracking numbers take 24 to 48 hours to show tracking data online. So there is a lag between what is actually occuring and what it says online. Please also indicate that the weekend causes more of a lag, due to shipping companies not doing business on the weekends.
  8. If the customer indicates something is wrong with an order, tell them we can send a replacement if required, however would like for them to indicate what is the problem with the item. And then from there, I can provide tech support to your customer to either get the item working, or in the case that does not work, I send a replacement.
  9. The first couple weeks you may see Ebay freezing some of your payments and requiring you to enter a tracking number. In these cases, simply make sure to enter the tracking number I give you. If it is a very small priced item, you may have to buy the tracking number at the point of buying the item to ship from me (it will be an option shown on the page).
  10. After a couple weeks of selling a bit on ebay, start to list items daily to get sales daily.. And over time increase the amount of items you have for sale. The goal is a 30% sell through rate, where 1 out of 3 times your auction is listed, it sells.

IMPORTANT AMAZON FACTS:

  1. With Amazon.com, its pretty easy to setup an account. However, the first thing you should do is sell something small, whether it be something you currently have in your own possession or maybe a small dropship item of mine. From there, you will need to enter your bank account details while submiting your first item for sale. After it sells or maybe after the bank account is on file, you must wait 14 days for the money to be unfrozen. After you have reached the point where you can get your money released to your bank account after the first payment, you can then list more items. This way, you don't have many orders frozen in Amazon.com waiting for the funds to release and can then get funds out daily (as you passed the freeze game on the first order).
  2. Do not sell several of the same software title on Amazon.com or they will ask you to prove you have a license to sell "said" software. I can show you how to become an "authorized seller" for various software companies, however, it is wise to realize this factor when selling on Amazon.com.
  3. List a variety of items on Amazon.com so you can make decent sales overall. The more variety, the more sales.
  4. Be careful to correctly represent the item you have for sale on Amazon.com. If I have notes written on my ads for a certain item (usually in red or blue), make sure to add those to the description or note if they will cause trouble. If there is some difference between what I have available and the ad that is on Amazon.com, do not list it, as it could cause customer issues.
  5. If you sell something on their website, make sure to buy it from me immediately so I can give you the tracking number, so you can give it to the customer, etc.
  6. If you sell something, buy from me, and its been 2 days, and I have not sent you the tracking number, go into Amazon.com and click on the item that was sold and choose "Shipped" and "USPS - Post Office" and leave the tracking number spot blank. And then later, when I do give you the tracking number, go back to this product page and in the note area, put in the tracking number that you did not leave when you clicked "shipped" before.

IMPORTANT PRICEGRABBER FACTS:

  1. Take your time when listing items on Pricegrabber, as mentioned above with Ebay. Slowly build up your listings and sales overtime.
  2. If you try to list a software item and it says you are not allowed to list, check to see if there is a way around it. If not, just do not list, as Pricegrabber.com has restrictions on certain software titles.
  3. If you sell something on their website, make sure to buy it from me immediately so I can give you the tracking number, so you can give it to the customer, etc.
