Hi Anna,

Just got back from Disney World.. Sorry for the delay in response..

One of the simpler ways, yet very effective is to do a search like the below:

It is sorted by lowest price first..

Then, what I do is a search like this below:

This search tells me the lowest priced finished auctions for dvd camcorders..  So, all the green numbers are auctions that sold..  (notice the red and green prices..  Green prices sold).  So, the lowest green price is the lowest price for a dvd camcorder in the last two weeks that sold on ebay.com.au.

Of course, maybe certain model is better for your interests..  You can do the same searches above, but add in a model number, to see the varying prices for the same model.  If there is a lot of variance in price, that means you can more easily get a really good deal..

So, we are seeing prices from $385 to $1399 for last week on the dvd camcorders tha sold on ebay.com.au.

If you want to know if you are really saving money, all I do is a search on another website for the same model to see what it sold for there..

For instance:

On this regular internet shop, the Sony DCR-DVD602 is over $1000 AUD:  http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/index.php/taxid;2136212591;pid;934;pt;1
On ebay, it sold for $500 AUD here:

Save over 50% just buying at an auction like here:

Bid is only about 30% of regular price currently..

The idea is to bid at the very last 10 seconds and to bid the maximum you will want to bid..  This way, your competitor has no chance to bid after your bid..  Few can bid in 3 seconds, although it can possibly occur..

I usually only bid HALF what it is worth, maximum..  I never pay more than 50%, as there is no point..

THE TRICK:

1. Read auction closely to make sure it is in like new condition, includes everything.
2. Check feedback of seller.  Make sure it is good feedback.
3. Make sure seller accepts your form of payment.
4. Bid at the very last seconds to avoid bid wars.  This way, the price does not shoot up..
5. Remember always to do searches off ebay to see what the camcorder is worth regularly.  Here is an example search on google.com:

Sincerely
Tony

Hi Anna,

OK, there is the complicated, save a ton of money method

or

The simple, buy in Australia save a bit method.

With the more complex, you could really save a ton of money..

Basically with this method, you would be buying from a seller in America , who is selling on ebay, such as:

But, the whole issue is this.

Australia has PAL and USA uses NTSC.

So, you would need a multisystem DVD player, for it to play NTSC DVDs created by the dvd camcorder.  Its spelled out here:

So, if you already have a multisystem DVD player, then you would be in luck and could get a really cheap DVD camcorder from the States.

The other issue is we are on 110 and you are on 220 volts.. That is generally converted pretty easily using a simple attachment such as:

So, that is what the "complex" way is.

I set out the only two issues and you could save yourself a few hundred dollars this way.

--------

The other is the simple, save a hundred bucks in Australia method..

Where I just find you the best deal in Australia ..

Tell me which it is..

Hello again Tony,

Thanks again for your help I will try and answer your questions as well as I can
Our power here is 240watts
I would love nothing too large, would like it to have at least a 2.5 screen
Would prefer disc not cassette to record
Be able to charge it and not rely on batteries(found out the hard way how quickly
they run out)
Take still photos with zoom
This is my absolute dream camcorder but not sure if this is available or if its
worth a fortune.unfortunately our $ value is not as strong as yours so it might
be cheap there but with the exchange rate it might not be so cheap here.
And lastly Im sorry but I don’t know what PAL or NTSC is.I will ask a few
people tomorrow and write back with an answer.
Thanks again Tony for your help with this.
Looking forward to your reply
Regards Anna

Hi Anna,

I am guessing, from my experience with Camcorders internationally, that maybe getting one for very cheap from the USA would be the best route..

I would need to ask a couple questions, though, to make sure it is possible..

Do you have PAL or NTSC for your TVs in Australia ?

Also, what is your power wattage?  Do you run like Germany and Europe ?  Or like the USA on power?

I will look in Australia and the USA for the best deal for you..

I know I can get you a REALLY good deal and I am VERY careful to make sure you get a good deal and all works well for you..

WHAT I NEED:

1. What type of camcorder are you looking for..  Some specs..
2. What is the power in your country?
3. Do you use NTSC or PAL for video playback in your country?

Once I know these things, I can find a very good deal for you.. !!

Sincerely
Tony

Camcorder.I haven’t done any research on this as yet so am not sure of prices and which one would
be the best for my purposes so  I need a little time to familiarise myself with this.
When I bid for your item it was just an impulse I thought yes that’s what I need I’ll bid and see
How much it goes for!!!Ha you know the rest as they say the rest is history.Anyway I will
do my homework this time and contact you if you like when I know what I want and how much I
want to spend. Thanks again your very kind
