Hi Nigel,

1. I would look at it this way..  You can look at the "completed item" history on ebay..

Meaning, do any search right now, then check the box on the left side menu "completed items".  Then, click OK or display.  Now, it shows the completed item history (it might prompt you to log in if you are not logged in)..

Now, sort by highest first..  The pull down menu on the top right..  However, in the case of "house" or "real estate", etc those words will bring up a bunch of expensive houses first..

So, what you need to do is look on the left side menu for categories to narrow down results and also you can "cap" the price that it displays to say $100..

Then, what you can do is look for all the greens and reds..  Greens are sales..  Reds are no sales..

Obviously, if there are a lot of greens at higher prices on a topic, that is a worthwhile topic..

You can then, "reverse engineer" the top competitors on a topic on a product idea..

This way, you are basically finding "Coke" or the guy who makes all the money..  And then you are reverse engineering them to become "Pepsi"..

That is the fastest way to get money really flowing on ebay, per info and digital products..

That is the correct roadmap for ebay..  Some of the above you may not know how to exactly do, and I can show you if you need help..

OF COURSE, there are many other ways to make money on ebay as well.  My dropship program..  OR, buying name brand product from companies like Genco Marketplace, etc..

Just ask more specifics and I will explain out..  There are many avenues here as you can see..

Sincerely,

Anthony W.

Hi again,

I was checking out eBay as it is somewhat new to me, although I have bought items from eBay, and had a couple of thoughts.

1. Popular keyword searches
I noticed that "how to sell my house" was a popular keyword search on ebay and so I was thinking how can I check supply and demand for ebay items.
So one strategy for selling on eBay could be as simple as supplying an eBook on how to sell a house and maybe a few variations on that.
With Google it is fairly easy by using a keyword research tool and then seeing how many pages are geared for that keyword.
I guess my main question is how can I check supply versus demand for keywords.
(With Google it is fairly easy by using a keyword research tool and then seeing how many pages are geared for that keyword.)

2. eBay API
eBay provides an API, meaning that I can write a program and interogate eBay and perform functions.

I haven't checked the full capabilities of the API, but there is certainly the ability to
  • Submit items for listing on eBay
  • Get the current list of eBay categories
  • View information about items listed on eBay
  • Get high bidder information for items you are selling
  • Retrieve lists of items a particular user is currently selling through eBay
  • Retrieve lists of items a particular user has bid on
  • Display eBay listings on other sites
  • Leave feedback about other users at the conclusion of a commerce transaction
So there is an opportunity to either develop a program just for SaleDaddy to help identify profitable categories or assist with placing items on eBay.
The program could be resold or used as part of a "pro licence" for SaleDaddy

Are there any areas that you can think of that a program would greatly assist in.

Cheers
Nigel
