Are you Interested in Generating Some Extra Cash?

Hi Deanna,

Thanks for writing.

It does sound like you are in a similar situation to what I was in when I started.

Even though I quit my job as a mechanical engineer, it was sort of one of those situations where you do not have much choices and the best one seemed to be quiting.

The funny thing was I was able to make some money even at the very beginning with eBay..  Maybe I got a hair lucky, but looking back, I believe it was my determination and diligence that helped a lot in getting it to pass, along with some prayer..

Regarding eBooks, I do agree, it is one of the better products to sell, but as with all products, there are strengths and there are weaknesses.

EBOOKS:
+ Its digital and can be automated.  Returns are easier to deal with.
- You have to really know something about marketing to make the big money with them.

PHYSICAL PRODUCT:
+ A more solid and consistant value is placed on physical product and you do not need to be a marketing wiz to make decent profit.
- If you mail the slightly wrong item or accidentially write something wrong in your ad, sometimes you end up eating your mistake.  Take for instance selling cell phones, which I do often.  If you put the wrong carrier or accidentially list an extra accessory that is not included, you can have customer problems.

So it all comes down to marketing on the ebook side and customer issues on the physical product side.

I sell both and I believe this is probably the best route for you also..

REGARDING EBOOK SELLING:

OK, I can give you exact step by step instructions that I follow when I take an ebook and want to make it a real profit generator on ebay..  I can just send you these steps, but the problem is its pretty "compact".

So, it has maybe 8 steps, but each step I could elaborate about 5 paragraphs on.  I don't do it in this compact form, as it would end up being several pages long.

I am kind of new to this teaching thing, so I don't know if I should just give it to you all at once, or let you soak it in slowly or what..

I guess it depends on the student.  Are you one who would just take a very detailed list and just run with it?  Or are you one who needs to soak it in and understand it well before implementing?

Also, are you the type that asks questions or the kind that just sits back and listens?

The more you can answer of the above will make it easier for me to try to teach these various methods and things I have learned..

SALEDADDY:

Have you had a chance to surf around the website a bit?  If not, please do so.  I have a lot of basics on there that are a good place to start at..  I figure the more you read and get accustomed to my methods, the more it will make sense in the big picture..

NAME BRAND PRODUCT:
You will notice I write rather long emails at times..  Regarding name brand product, I have a few very clever ways of buying very low priced product to turn around and sell on ebay..

I can also show you how you can buy a lot of these popular items you see in the stores, whether it be fashion, clothes, electronics, appliances, etc..  Pretty much anything you see in the chain stores, I can show you how to get..

My two main methods of aquiring product to sell on ebay:

1. Buy chain store returns/overstocks at about 30% of the wholesale price on pallets.

2. Buy items in lots on ebay to turn around and sell individually.  I can teach you methods to figure the exact value you can sell an item at before you buy any "lots" of the given item, so you can almost guarantee that you make double what you paid or higher..

Please write back with answers to some of the questions about with regards to your learning style.

Also, indicate which you would like to learn first.  Selling eBooks or selling physical product.. I am guessing ebooks from your first email..

Sincerely
Tony

Hi Tony,
Thank you so much for using your experience to help those of us who need it!  I really want, more than anything, to be working for myself and I see selling on ebay as an excellent opportunity to do so.  I have been an ebay buyer for years, but have never sold anything.  However, as a buyer, I've noticed a few things about how it works and this is, in part, what lets me know that selling on ebay is for me.
My situation is somewhat similar to yours (when you first started out) in that I am going to be leaving my decent-paying job as a Dental Office Manager when I move to Texas (from Pennsylvania) on 9/30/06.  If at all possible,I would rather not have to get another job running someone else's business when I could be running my own.  I'm hoping to be able to support myself by running my own business before I would need to find another job.
Probably, most urgently what I need is direction as to what I should sell.  I love the idea of selling ebooks.  Not only do I like buying the ones that interest me, but I like the apparent ease of delivery of intangible products.  Also, it appears that much of it can be automated.  In addition, think that it would be hard for me to handle shipping and returns of tangible products so close to my move.  But, I am also very interested in your methods of procuring and selling tangible products, especially after my move. What do you think is best, given my situation?  I will whole-heartedly welcome any direction you can give me.
Just to let you know, I have already responded to the email that directed me to get a new username and password.  I hope that I don't have two and that I didn't mess anything up.
Sorry for the lengthy email!
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Deanna
