Member Testimonials

I find it to be very fun working as a Mystery Shopper and earn extra money while doing something I love. The extra income I've made as a Mystery Shopper is actually helping me finance a trip for our family to France later this summer. My first Mystery Shopping assignment started a little over a year ago, and since then Mystery Shopping has provided me a considerable side income for my family.

-Sincerely, Chris G.

A letter from a professional mystery shopper: Marybeth Kernes

Dear reader,

My name is Marybeth Kernes. Three years ago I gave birth to my fourth child and was desperately seeking for a new way to find a new source of income. I was on maternity leave and felt dismayed at the thought of coming back to work my regular job. It was at this time when I began to look into work-at-home opportunities. One of the ideas that struck out to me the most was the opportunity of mystery shopping. Going out to shop while getting paid to do so sounded like a too-good-to-be true deal to me. Although being as desperate as I was to gain a source of income, I gave it a try.

It was a decision I am so glad I've made. Mystery shopping has not only been profitable, it has also been truly the most pleasant job experience I've ever had. I didn't have to put my child in a daycare center while I go to work--I bring him along with me when I shop! Not only do I bring in anywhere between $10 to $50 per hour for the assignments, I also get an opportunity to get new clothes, food, and various household products for myself and my children for free!

Here's what I do on a typical day of mystery shopping:

My day starts at around 10:00 AM , once my three older children have left for school. I turn on my computer and check my email to see what new assignments have been appointed to me for that day. I take a look at the list of available assignments, select the ones I want, and get myself and my son ready for a fun day of shopping!

My first assignment is at a shoe store located inside a downtown mall. As soon as I arrive, I came right for the children's department, since one of my older children needed a new pair of shoes. Once I enter the store, I am greeted with a pleasant welcome from one of the sales employee. I headed over to pick out a pair of shoes and pretend to look confused. A sales employee came over and questioned if there's anything he can assist me with. I asked for his name, several questions about the pair of shoes, and if the store has the size I was looking for with that particular pair.

Seeing that the size I was looking for was not readily available on store shelves, the clerk goes to the back of the store to check if the size I had wanted for that particular pair shoes is available. While this is happening, I take a walk around the store and spot a number of shoes and shoe boxes scattered around on the floor. I mentally took a note of this as I continued to wait for the clerk. Soon, the clerk returns with the pair of shoes I wanted, and asks if there's anything else he could help me with. Content with the service, I brought the shoes up to the counter and have the clerk charge out my purchase. Overall, the clerk was very nice and helpful. The only drawback was the slight untidiness of the store. I head to my car, take out a notepad and wrote down a short summary of my shopping experience.

My next assignment is at a local grocery store. I quickly jot down a list of grocery items needed for that day and head inside. For this assignment, I am asked to solicit help from a store employee in locating a grocery item. With this in mind, I approach a sales clerk who's busy stocking a number of canned food onto the shelves and asked if he can help me locate where the carrots section can be found in the store. Like the previous clerk at the shoe department, he is also very friendly, and stops what he is doing to guide me to the proper aisle.

As I come across the produce aisle, I notice that the cabbages do not look fresh. I mentally made a note of this to myself and continued on my way, grabbing a few final items on my list and proceed to checkout. Once the sale has been completed, the bagger quickly puts my items in plastic bags, and asked if I needed help taking the groceries to my car. I willingly accept, as it's quite nice to have a helping hand when you have a 2-year-old toddler with you! He helped me load the bags into the trunk of my car and pulls the cart away. As soon as I get inside my car, I take out my notepad, quickly jot down my shopping experience at this grocery store, and drive home.

At home, I complete the evaluation forms for these two stores. I email them to my company, and they mail out to me a check for my time and amount spent in the stores.

If you think that this sounds like a pleasant and fun job to do, you're right! This is unquestionably the easiest and most enjoyable job I've ever had. Using the information provided by YourDomain.com keeps me organized, and finding new assignments to do everyday is a breeze…all thanks to you!

Happy Shopping,

Marybeth Kernes
