  • Hi Jeanne-Marie,
This is my second email.  Check my previous email first..  Its a bit long, but I am explaining a bit of the logic of how selling works..
Regarding what you said about wanting to sell fiction ebooks..  This might be a "one item" package, but would not suffice as the entire of your ebook sales..
I have TONS of experience selling public domain books, particularly Christian books..
Matter of fact, I have a Bible library that sells in the chain stores, like Best Buy, Walmart, Sams, etc..
I have been doing it for years..
Here is my advice about selling fiction ebooks:
+ Sell them all together in sets and put them on a CD..
Why?  You can put them in about FOUR times as many categories if you have it on CD..  Further, if you put it in sets, you can get more for your money per sale..
So, you have say a set of fiction ebooks covering a certain topic or a few related authors, and make a killer ad, put it on CD, which you can burn in house, and you have something that can make you some money..
I started this way with a Bible library on eBay..  This is where I started..  I did it just like I am saying above and it worked quite well.
Now, the idea is to do popular books or popular topics in fiction or non-fiction..  You want to have a CD that many will want to buy..  This is so you can eventually take the auction to the top of the page..
I explain my step by step process here for taking an ebook or informational product to the top of the page:
Ok, here is the rundown on the work side..  Think about this..  I have made $75,000 in three years of profit approximately from the "TV projector Kit" that I mention in my last email..
Ok, all I did was a month or two of hard work and that is it..  After that, I hired my mother to ship out the plans and lenses to my customers..  All I do is put up the auctions and do the email..
So, the question to you is, "Is it worth doing a month or two of relevant work to make a product that can make you money years to come?"
Seems like a silly question, but most want money up front and hence, quit.
Sell name brand items if you want money quickly.  Or small accessories..  I can tell you the whole nine yards on how to do this..
If you sell small accessories or name brand products, you don't need to be a marketing wiz.  You don't have to do a month of two of work up front..
BUT, you will have to have some money to buy the product you are going to sell..
Most are broke.. If you are not broke, you can do this route..
I can tell you EXACTLY where to buy popular name brand product that you see in stores such as Sears for 1/4 of what the price is in the stores..
    This is not a joke..
About 80% of it is in brand new/like new condition.  20% is broke and is either for parts, sell at low low price or junk..
    Its a simple factor..
For instance, if you wanted to sell camcorders that you saw in the store for $330, you can buy for easily $90 from these sources..   The catch is you would have to buy a pallet full of product..
With bigger items, like TVs, home theater systems, vacuums, etc you can get a pallet for $500 bucks, pretty easily..  And, you could turn around and sell it all individually on ebay for over $1000 total.
Here is the link to Genco Salvage Auctions, which I have bought about $120,000 worth of wholesale product in the past (paid maybe $40,000 total).
Unfortunately, you can not see the list of items that are up for auction until you have a username and password..  You have to fax in a huge contract before you can get that..  Also, you will have to have some sort of business:  DBA, C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC, etc..
Its easy to start a business if you do not have one, and it sounds like you should already have some experience in how to do this, since you said you work in accounting, correct?
Cost me a couple hundred bucks to start my C-Corp, which is a separate entity from me per taxes..  And, if you have heard that old line "double taxation" it is not exactly true, as its sort of one of those misleading one liners people throw around..
I actually save money being a C-Corp over an S-Corp and also have much more protection against lawsuits..
One of the pallets being auction right now on Genco..  The BID starts at 10% of the wholesale price..  It generally goes up to about 30% of the wholesale price..  So the wholesale price below is NOT what you would be paying..

    Hi Tony -

I've subscribed through Paypal and have my password & login to your website.
I'll start looking through it this weekend.

You asked what I would like to do/sell on ebay. My end goal is to supplement
my current income. I'd love to be able to eventually work for myself
full-time but that is not an immediate goal. I would like to sell ebooks -
not the get rich quick schemes - but actual information that people would be
interested in and can use as well as fiction (public domain stuff) and
ebooks written by a friend of mine. I will also be selling tangible products
to help my mom. She just retired from teaching and has about 75-80 boxes of
children's books and teaching materials she wants to sell. If selling those
items goes well, I'd consider selling other tangible items as well.

I decided to pursue your auction and business because of your username and
the website. I am a Christian and I don't want to rip people
off by selling get rich schemes or by violating other people's copyrights. I
have been working in finance/accounting for more than 12 years for tech
companies but have limited experience with business on the internet so I
don't really know where to start when it comes to running an internet based

LIS WIEHL: You can't not hire Lenny.
O'REILLY: Yes, but ... Don't you see my business point here? ... the state of Calif .. is forcing me to hire people that may be detrimental to my business.
LIS WIEHL: appearance shouldn't matter. When you're selling bibles.
O'REILLY: Ms. Rivers, you understand ... better than Lis because she went to Harvard Law School, and that disqualifies her from common sense.
